Map project budgets with fixed intervals easily

Interval budgets simplify recurring budgets. Define a budget per interval: monthly, yearly, or on other schedules.

Clockodo automatically creates a matching subproject with the correct budget for each interval. Each subproject receives its own start and end date based on the selected interval. This brings clarity, avoids errors during manual setup, and supports accurate budget control.

How to use interval budgets

An interval budget defines both the length of the interval and the budget amount. Based on these settings, Clockodo creates a new subproject at the start of each interval with the matching start and end date. You select week, month, quarter, or year as the time period. 
You edit the generated subprojects when adjustments are necessary.

Set up an interval budget:

1. Create or edit a project
2. Open the budget settings
3. Select “interval budget”
4. Define the interval and enter the budget details
5. Save

Clockodo creates the related subproject at the start of the selected interval. If you set a weekly interval, Clockodo creates the subproject on the next Monday and runs it through Sunday.

Once you complete a project, Clockodo stops creating additional subprojects.

Practical example

A team works with tasks that recur every month and require a fixed budget of 3,000 euros. For this work, the team creates a main project and sets an interval budget with a monthly interval and a budget amount of 3,000 euros.

At the beginning of each month, Clockodo creates a new subproject with the appropriate timeframe and a budget of 3,000 euros. The team tracks all hours for the month inside this subproject.

After several months, the project contains clearly separated subprojects that represent each month’s budget. When the collaboration ends, the team completes all subprojects and then completes the main project. At this moment, Clockodo also stops the automatic creation of further subprojects.

The feature is included permanently in the Pro Plus plan. Until March, all customers test it at no extra charge.
