Get there faster by typing: the advanced search
Need to record an unexpected absence while you're in the middle of creating a report? Or edit a customer without clicking through lists and buttons? No problem.
The new advanced search makes you even faster. It offers more functionality than the previous search and combines search with context-specific actions in a dedicated field, allowing you to complete tasks immediately. One keyboard shortcut is all it takes to find, open, and edit everything in Clockodo. Some actions also have their own keyboard shortcuts, letting you complete them even faster. This way, you can handle your most common tasks in seconds instead of clicking through menus.
Try the advanced search directly in your account by opening it with a keyboard shortcut (Windows: Ctrl+K, macOS: Cmd+K).
You'll still find the search in the top right corner. It continues to include the familiar navigation features that let you search for pages and jump directly to them.
An everyday example
Previously, Susanne could use the search to find a customer and display their details. The navigation would simply take her to the corresponding page. With the new keyboard shortcuts, she can now find the customer in a dedicated field and, for example, start the clock for that customer or edit them directly.
The page Susanne was previously working on in Clockodo remains open in the background. For example, she no longer has to leave a report when her co-worker Max calls in sick unexpectedly. On her Windows PC, she presses Ctrl+K to open the search, types "Max," selects him using the arrow keys, presses Ctrl+D, and is taken directly to the form where she can record his sick leave. After saving, she's immediately back in her report.
She can also find her next appointment through the search—provided she has synchronized her calendar—and start it even faster using keyboard shortcuts instead of several mouse clicks.
From navigation to command center
Previously, the search mainly helped you find a page and jump to it. Now, you can search across all your data and take action directly from the results in a dedicated field.
If a keyboard shortcut is available for an action, it is displayed alongside the search result.
The advanced search finds:
- Customers
- Projects
- Subprojects
- Services
- Favorites
- Reports
- Individual pages
- Appointments
- Favorites
- And, with the appropriate access rights, your co-workers
Search results are sorted by relevance. Recently opened items appear higher in the list, so the places you visit most are always close at hand. The search is also typo-tolerant: entering "tmetable," for example, will still find the timetable. This makes it easy to find the right result within moments, even in large company accounts.

How to use the advanced search
- Open the search field (Windows: Ctrl+K, macOS: Cmd+K).
- Enter a search term.
- Select a result.
Depending on the result, you'll either be taken to a page, a dedicated input window will open, or an action menu will appear where you can choose the desired action.
Examples: Selecting Timetable takes you directly to the timetable. Selecting Add time entry opens a separate window where you can create an entry. Selecting a customer opens an action menu where you can choose from several options, such as Edit or Start clock.
The action menu lets you complete your most common tasks directly:
- Add a time entry for the selected customer or project
- Start and stop the clock
- Record an absence
- Open and edit customers, projects, or co-workers
Clockodo automatically pre-fills the corresponding form with the selected customer, project, or favorite. That saves you from selecting them again, so you can get straight to what matters.

Always within reach, with the right access rights
The advanced search opens from the header in the top right corner. On smartphones, it opens in full-screen mode and is just as easy to use as on a computer. It automatically adapts to your system and displays the correct keyboard shortcut for quick access.
The feature consistently respects your access rights. Co-workers only appear in the search for users with the appropriate permissions. Every action takes into account what the respective user is allowed to edit. This ensures everyone only sees what they are authorized to access.
