Clockodo MCP Server: Connecting AI Agents to Clockodo
With the Clockodo MCP Server, Clockodo provides an official interface that allows you to connect your own AI agents to the Clockodo REST API, for example Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. This makes Clockodo part of an intelligent, supportive day-to-day workflow and helps you save time and avoid unnecessary tool switching.
Processes related to time tracking, projects, and administration can be controlled via AI – directly connected to your existing Clockodo account.
Benefits & How It Works
The Clockodo MCP Server enables you to use Clockodo via so-called AI agents. It is based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open protocol that allows AI systems to communicate securely with external applications.
For this purpose, Clockodo provides its own MCP server, available at: http://mcp.clockodo.com
Through this server, AI agents access various tools based on the Clockodo REST API. These tools represent typical actions and queries in Clockodo, such as managing data or retrieving information.
What’s important to note:
- The AI always operates within your existing Clockodo account.
- The permissions of the user who set up the connection always apply.
- You decide which tools are enabled and can be used by the AI agent.
This allows you to control Clockodo selectively via AI without giving up control.
How to Use the Clockodo MCP Server

The setup is done step by step via the add-ons section in Clockodo:
- Open the add-ons section in Clockodo
- Switch to the AI add-ons tab
- Open the guide for setting up MCP
- Create an MCP configuration for your AI agent
- Select and enable the required tools
Requirements: The connection is only possible if your AI agent supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and allows authentication via HTTP header or Basic Auth.
You can find a detailed guide for creating the necessary configuration for the first time directly in the add-ons section: https://my.clockodo.com/de/addons/?tab=ki-addons
Permissions and Security
The Clockodo MCP Server does not add any new permissions.
Your AI agent can only do what the connected user is already allowed to do in Clockodo.
Please note: If you share tools with the prefix create, update, or delete, the MCP server with the respective user rights may create, modify, or delete data in Clockodo.
- User permissions in Clockodo remain unchanged
- Tools that are not enabled cannot be used by the AI agent
- You retain full control over the available functionality
This ensures that your time tracking remains clearly regulated and transparent, even when connected to AI.
Before use, please check to what extent the use of the selected AI complies with data protection regulations in your context.
Example: Managing Clockodo via AI
A managing director uses an AI agent to regularly retrieve project statuses or recorded working times from Clockodo.
Instead of manually opening reports, they receive a summary directly from the AI agent on request – always based on up-to-date data and their existing access rights.
