Autolinks for time entries
Autolinks automatically connect specific content in your time entries with the matching information in other systems.
Define your pattern rules once for recognizing abbreviations or codes. Clockodo detects them in your time entries and creates a link to the linked resource. For example, if you enter a Jira ticket number in a time entry, one click takes you directly to the corresponding ticket in Jira. This lets you reach relevant information faster, reduce clicks and search effort, and maintain consistent linking.

Where Autolinks appear
Autolinks appear in the descriptions of time entries. They are therefore visible in the weekly and daily views of the timetable as well as in the time entry lists within project and subproject reports. In addition, autolinks will be displayed in the notes of customers, projects and subprojects.
How to set up Autolinks
With just a few clicks, you can create your own Autolinks and link your time entries directly to external resources.
- In the Clockodo menu, go to Add-ons and select Autolinks.
- Click the plus button and fill in the form.
- Enter a name for the Autolink.
- Choose whether the ID (e.g. the Jira ticket number) consists only of numbers (numeric) or of numbers, letters, and hyphens (alphanumeric).
- Enter the prefix Clockodo should look for, e.g. CLK-
- Enter the target URL of the linked resource, following the given format. The URL must contain an [ID] placeholder.
- Save the rule and check if the Autolinks in your time entries link correctly.

Tips for creating Autolinks
- The prefix does not have to appear in the target URL. You can define any custom prefix to shorten long links.
- Even if your system does not use unique IDs in its URLs, Autolinks can still be useful. Many tools offer a search URL, for example in the format “https://example.com/?q=[searchterm]”. In this case, set up the Autolink so that the search term serves as the ID.
- The system distinguishes between uppercase and lowercase in the prefix, meaning Autolinks are case-sensitive.
